The Judging - changes for 2010
The dates have changed plus the judging of the EXPORT cheeses will take place at Cardiff Castle on the TRADE DAY of the Cheese Festival. The 7 Main Categories Thursday 9th September Kingham - Oxfordshire All categories, except EXPORT, will be judged in Kingham by 60 of Britians key retailers, wholesalers, chefs and the media.
The EXPORT Category Friday 24th September Cardiff Castle - Cardiff To enable overseas judges to judge AND attend the Cheese Festival we have moved the judging to the TRADE DAY at Cardiff Castle. After the judging the cheeses will become part of the HALL OF CHAMPIONS giving visitors to the Festival an impressive range of cheeses to see and taste.
The Great British Cheese Festival Friday 24th - Sunday 26th September CARDIFF CASTLE became the new and permanent home to the Great British Cheese Festival in 2008, under the stewardship of Cardiff Council, and it is hard to imagine a more dramatic setting. It continues to be the FOCAL POINT of the cheese calendar for cheese makers, buyers and foodies from around the world and the TRADE DAY, held on the Friday afternoon before the FESTIVAL is followed by the announcment on Friday night of the BRITISH CHEESE AWARDS winners at a gala dinner.
BRITAIN’S BIGGEST CHEESE MARKET dominates the FESTIVAL with over 450 cheeses from across the British Isles.
Alongside the markets are the COOK & BOOK SHOP and the CARDIFF ARMS, serving real ale, Perry, cider and English Wine ensuring there is something to suit everyones palate. CONTACT DETAILS
