What are the British Cheese Awards?
Established in 1994 by Juliet Harbutt to raise the profile of British cheese and create a recognised symbol of excellence for all British cheese. At the same time BRITISH CHEESE WEEK – a nation-wide campaign - was created to follow the announcement of the winners each year at the AWARDS DINNER.
In 2000 the GREAT BRITISH CHEESE FESTIVAL, now owned and run by Cardiff City Council, was added to educate and inspire the consumer and in 2011 CHEESES ON THE GREEN was created to give consumers a chance to see and taste over 900 cheeses left over from the judging.
Together these events have become a highly successful marketing campaign for British cheese, cheesemakers and cheese retailers.
